Trepça wins the Kosovo Supercup in basketball

Trepça started the new edition the way it ended the last one – with a trophy. The team from Mitrovica is the winner of the Kosovo Super Cup in basketball, defeating Pristina in the final.

In the match held on Wednesday at the “Sezai Surroi” gym in Prizren, Trepça won with a score of 89:73. “Xehetars” have once again shown why they are the main favorite for the new edition, winning all the trophies in the previous edition: the champion’s title, the Kosovo Cup, the Super Cup and the Unique League tournament.

In the quarter-finals of the Super Cup, Trepça defeated Borë, while in the semi-finals it achieved an easy and deep victory over Golden Eagle Yllit. The victory in the final against Pristina confirmed their dominance.

After an even first quarter, Trepca started to break away in the last minutes of the second quarter, finishing 26:19. The third quarter continued at the same pace, ending 22:17 for Trepca. Even though Prishtina did not give up and got as close as six points in the fourth quarter, they failed to overturn the result. The fourth quarter ended 27:22 for Trepca.

Desmond Cambridge Jr. led Trepca with 15 points, four rebounds and five steals. Sammy Hunter contributed 18 points and six rebounds. Larry Thomas had 13 points, five assists and four rebounds, while Malik Johnson added 11 points and six assists.

For Pristina, Damire Burns scored 12 points and 10 rebounds. Jaleen Moore had 20 points, eight rebounds and six assists, but also had seven turnovers. Jawachi Nzeakor scored 13 points, although not with high efficiency.

The Supercup tournament now gives way to the competition in the championship, where an interesting competition is expected. Trepca and Prishtina will be among the main contending teams, with foreign players, mostly Americans, expected to have a big impact throughout the championship. /Football Match Up/
