The Spaniard chosen to replace Hamilton
It looks like Carlos Sainz will be the next Mercedes driver, starting next season. The Spanish driver will replace Hamilton, who will race with Ferrari from the 2025 Formula 1 world championship.
Just a day ago Fernando Alonso showed his loyalty to Aston Martin by declaring that he will be part of the team in 2025. Based on this, it follows that another driver will take the place of Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes. As it is known, next year, the British pilot will go to Ferrari, but according to Gazzetta dello Sport, it will be Carlos Sainz who will take Hamilton’s place at Mercedes. So, it will be an “exchange” of pilots between the two teams.
And while the formalization of Hamilton to the red team has been done, that of Sainz to Mercedes will be done later. Even the idea that Max Verstappen could go to Mercedes instead of Lewis, terminating his contract with Red Bull that expires in 2028, remained only a marketing rumour.
After all, it would have been risky to say the least, for the Dutchman to leave the dominant car of the last Formula 1 World Championships and move to a team whose car is uncertain about the future.
And since the Dutchman’s track was canceled, then Toto Wolff chose Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard is a driver who knows how to race in a team. So he will have no problem alongside George Russell and will be able to contribute to the resurgence of Mercedes.
