Maresca publicly tells a Chelsea player to leave the club this summer in a scathing statement

Italian coach Enzo Maresca is said to have continued to communicate his decision to leave some other Chelsea players ahead of the start of the new season.

Trevoh Chalobah, Armando Broja and Conor Gallagher have been ruled out of Chelsea first-team training, with the latter “trying to find a solution with the club” after a mooted move to Atletico Madrid fell through.

But another member of the Blues’ first team has been told to find a new club, with Marescan making the comments public at a press conference.

Ben Chilwell is Chelsea’s vice-captain behind captain Reece James but managed just 64 minutes in pre-season despite having a summer break.

He has failed to feature for the last three games and it looks as if Spain international Marc Cucurella will be Maresca’s first choice on the left wing.

And although he has not been ruled out of squad training, Maresca has told the Chilean he would be better off leaving Stamford Bridge in pursuit of regular game time.

“Chilwell has not trained in the last few days because he has been ill”, Maresca initially said in the conference before the match against Manchester City.

“It’s quite clear, I love the way he is, but the problem is that he struggles a bit with us to find his best position.”

“This morning we had 22 players training, and if you ask them all they will say they want to play against City on Sunday, but that is impossible.”

“When they train every day and they don’t get a minute, it’s not good for them or me, I have to make a decision. Maybe it’s better to leave and get minutes (elsewhere). The transfer deadline is open, so we will see what will happen”, concluded the coach of the Blues.

Chelsea still have 43 players on the roster, including Romelu Lukaku and Kepa Arrizabalaga. But Maresca has banned 15 players from proceedings at Cobham, allowing just 28 stars to be present at the United States tournament. /Football Match Up/
