The Formula 1 World Championship has moved to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix. On the eve of the race, as always, the usual press conference of the pilots was held.
Ferrari arrives in the UK following developments made to the car in recent races, which have proved positive. While it will also seek confirmation at Silverstone. Charles Leclerc commented on the growth of the “redhead” even though he acknowledged the great superiority of Red Bull on the track: “In Austria we had a better pace with great sensations, but they (Red Bull) are even stronger”, said Leclerc . The Monegasque of Ferrari added: “I think that since the Barcelona Grand Prix things are going in the right direction. The pace we couldn’t find in Catalonia, we achieved in Austria and it was the best since the beginning of the season. We have made progress but we must not let ourselves get carried away by enthusiasm. Red Bull is far ahead and remains stronger. I also think that the Silverston track can highlight our weaknesses. Maybe we will suffer more than in Austria, but in terms of pace. We have taken a step forward”, declared Leclerc.
At the British Grand Prix, Ferrari will be presented with the new “Pirelli” tires, for which the head of the team,
Frédéric Vasseur, has appeared optimistic. However, Leklerk is more cautious: “I’m not sure if they can help us. During free trials it will be very important to evaluate this aspect and understand how much difference we make in terms of degradation. We need to understand if there is a need to adapt the car to these new specifications. We will learn more about the tires just by trying them”, said Charles Leclerc, among others.
Meanwhile, the other pilot, Carlos Sainz Jr, commented on Ferrari’s strategy to not allow him to overtake his teammate: “If we think about it calmly, the team’s decision is understandable. They have explained to me and now things are clearer”, declared the Spaniard.
