Simone Inzaghi underlined what Inter still need to work on and improve after neutralizing Manchester City in the Champions League.
The Nerazzurri left the Etihad with a strange mixture of regret and pride, having had chances to go ahead through Matteo Darmian and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, but also risked a bit with two late Ilkay Gundogan headers.
In the end, the 0-0 draw against the reigning Premier League champions should be seen as a positive result, especially in this new Champions League format where away results and goal difference can be decisive.

“The boys did very well, we knew the quality of our opponents, but we worked well and could have hurt them more in some situations,” Inzaghi initially said to Amazon Prime Video Italy AND Sky Sport Italia.
“We struggled a bit more in the second half, but those Darmian and Mkhitaryan chances could have passed. I congratulated the boys, now we move forward”.
“This also happened in Serie A, in the last third we have to show skills and techniques, which we have in the team. This is the first time we haven’t scored this season and it’s something we have to work on.”

“Against these teams like Manchester City and Real Madrid, you always look like you might be able to score a goal, but then they manage to save it.”
“Taremi did well to pass Carlos Augusto and Ederson made a good save. As for Darmian, he said he heard Barella call for a pass, their defender did well to cut it off, otherwise it would have been clear in the goal.

Lautaro Martinez and Mkhitaryan were initially on the bench ahead of Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina against Milan, a big risk from Inzaghi that could have backfired.
“All my players train well and deserve to play, then a coach has to make decisions and I try to focus on what is best for Inter. Unfortunately, I can’t use more than 15 in a single game.”
Milan are struggling under new manager Paulo Fonseca and were beaten 3-1 in the Champions League by Liverpool on Tuesday night.
