Barcelona kick off the 2024/25 Champions League season on Thursday with a trip to Monaco, where coach Hansi Flick has expressed confidence they can win it.
The Catalans go into this game in fantastic form, having won all five of their La Liga games so far this season.
In recent years, Barcelona has struggled in Europe. Last season’s run to the quarter-finals of the Champions League was their best in a while, and Hansi Flick will be hoping to improve on that during his first season at the popular club.
During his press conference ahead of the Monaco match, he admitted he was not worried about the club’s recent European struggles.
“I don’t care about the past, we have to focus on the present. The team has had a complete winning record in La Liga and we are confident. We need aggressiveness and concentration, that’s what is needed in a competition like the Champions League. “The five victories are already in the past and we have to prove ourselves in this competition.”
