Xherdan Shaqiri scored a spectacular goal against Scotland, taking his tally in major tournaments to 10.

Currently the top is Cristiano Ronaldo, who has scored in a remarkable 10 different tournaments starting with Euro 2004. If he scores for Portugal this summer at Euro 2024, he will go to 11. In total he has 22 goals in major international tournaments.

In second position is Lionel Messi who has scored in nine separate tournaments, starting with his goal in the 2006 World Cup. If the Argentine wizard scores in this summer’s Copa America, he will move to 10 tournaments . He has 26 goals in major tournaments for his nation.

In third place is the legend of Ghana, Asamaoh Gyan, who has scored in eight separate tournaments with the Ghanaians, scoring 14 goals.

In fourth position is the blast from the past in Zizinho of Brazil, who scored in seven tournaments with 19 goals.

Then there is another Ghanaian like Andre Ayew who also scored in seven tournaments, netting 13 goals.

Completing the trio in seven tournaments scored, but coming in sixth place is Angel Di Marรญa, who has scored in seven separate tournaments for Argentina, but has scored just eight goals in total.

There are about 13 players who have scored in six separate tournaments.
