FBK notifies basketball clubs about licensing

Completing the criteria for licensing and competition by clubs at the Kosovo Basketball Federation (FBK) is an essential process that ensures a stable, safe and fair environment for all actors involved in Kosovar basketball.

This process helps raise the level of play, develop new talent and promote the sport in general.

For this reason, the Kosovo Basketball Federation with the help of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has started implementing the criteria for licensing and competition for basketball clubs from 2021. At the same time, the process of licensing clubs for racing is part of the FBK Strategic Plan 2021-2025, more precisely one of the five goals: Empowerment of Clubs.

From the second week of July, the Kosovo Basketball Federation will start work on the process of licensing clubs for competition in the 2024/25 edition.

The criteria for club licensing by the FBK are important for several main reasons:

Ensuring high standards

Licensing ensures that all clubs meet the minimum standards of quality and professionalism set by the Kosovo Basketball Federation. This includes aspects of infrastructure, equipment, coaching staff and club management.

Improving the level of play

Licensing criteria help increase the quality of play and competition in the league. Clubs that meet these criteria usually have better preparation, better equipment and better management, which contributes to the overall development of basketball in our country.

Player safety and welfare

One of the important aspects of licensing is ensuring that clubs provide suitable conditions for their players, including health care, training conditions and fair treatment.

Transparency and accountability

The licensing process promotes transparency and accountability within clubs. Clubs should provide clear and accurate information about their financial and operational structure, thus ensuring more responsible management.

Youth development

The criteria also include the development of youth programs, ensuring that clubs invest in new talent and create a strong foundation for the future of basketball in Kosovo.

Integration in international competitions

Clubs that meet the licensing criteria have more opportunities to participate in international competitions, as they comply with the standards required by international basketball organizations.

Increasing the trust of the public and sponsors

Clubs that are licensed create a better image in the public and among sponsors, thus increasing the opportunities for financial support and various collaborations.
