Como signs ex-Barcelona captain – Sergio Roberto reveals how he convinced Cesc Fabregas to move to Serie A

Como have officially announced the signing of former Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto, after the latter’s contract with the Catalan giants expired at the start of the summer.

The 32-year-old has signed a two-year deal that will keep him at the newly promoted Serie A club until the summer of 2026.

“I see this as a new challenge in my career, I believe very much in the project, I met the owners and they are very excited about it, I think they are doing the right things and I am happy to be part of it.”

“When Cesc first contacted me, he explained to me the ambitions of the club coming from the lower divisions to Serie A in five years, and his ambition as a coach. So it’s exciting for me to come and be part of the growth of the club.”

“I think I can help achieve the club’s goals with hard work and I can’t wait to get started,” said Roberto.

Sergi Roberto can play in midfield and on the right wing, making 373 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona’s senior side, making his professional debut in November 2010.

Sergi Roberto joins a long list of big-name players who joined the project under Cesc Fabregas this summer.

Kluib has approached names like Andrea Belotti, Raphael Varane, Pepe Reina and Alberto Moreno. /Football Match Up/
